BRIAN P. LANCASTER, founder and president

Brian Lancaster, the founder and president of The Minot Group, has worked in the real estate finance and fixed income capital markets for over twenty five years in a variety of academic, banking, and regulatory positions. He is currently Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Columbia Business School and the Stern School of Business at New York University where he teaches MBA and EMBA courses: “Debt Markets and Derivatives,” “Real Estate Finance,” and “Real Estate Capital Markets."

He was formerly co-head of the thirty-five member Structured Transactions, Analytics, Risk and Strategy group at the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was responsible for all research, analytics, models and strategy for structured products and related derivatives.  Prior to RBS, he was Chief Investment Officer, Real Estate Division, Wachovia/Wells Fargo, and head of real estate research at Wachovia for eight years. He worked eleven years at Bear Stearns as a Managing Director Principal and was voted an Institutional Investor All Star Analyst for several years. 

He was also a Vice President in the Financial Engineering group at Chemical Securities, Inc. and served as a Senior Fixed Income Capital Markets Economist at both the Federal Reserve Bank of NY and Bank of England in London. 

He is the author/editor of numerous journal articles and books on the fixed income and real estate finance markets, including Structured Products and Related Credit Derivatives, Lancaster, Schultz, Fabozzi, Wiley Publications. He earned a BS in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the Stern School, New York University, and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University where he was selected as an International Fellow.

Steven has been a consultant for the past eight years to small nonprofit organizations. He specializes in creating strategic plans and assisting with their implementation. He has worked for a variety of organizations in education, advocacy and social services.

He draws on his extensive experience in both the for profit and nonprofit world. Steven has served on a dozen boards in both areas. He has been a pro bono consultant with the National Executive Service Corp (NESC) for the last eight years as well.

Steven takes a pragmatic and inclusive approach to his work in order to get the buy-in of key stakeholders of the plan. He enjoys listening and learning about the mission, culture and resources of the organization. Then, working in collaboration with major stakeholders, he formulates an actionable and measurable plan.

Examples of his work include: creating a sustainable and replicable model of an organization’s community based programs and in another organization creating the framework for that organization to split into two organizations while retaining continuity in services.

Before consulting in the nonprofit world, he was Managing Member of Sundance Realty LLC, a Real Estate acquisition and development firm operating in New York City and Westchester County from 2003-2008.

Steven spent the majority of his for profit professional career, from 1981-2001 at Hampton Industries, a publicly traded, Men’s and Children’s apparel company where he rose to hold the position of President. He was responsible for transforming the company from a private label, domestically produced apparel company to a branded one(brands included Nautica, Joe Boxer, Dickies, Rawlings and Spalding). Products were imported from over twenty countries around the world.

He holds a B.S. in Finance from Lehigh University,‘81 and a Masters Degree in Real Estate Finance and Development from New York University ’03.


Roger Eichel

Roger Eichel is an accomplished corporate counsel having served as a senior executive, board member and general counsel for a publicly traded corporation for more than twenty five years. A former prosecutor, he practiced corporate law and commercial litigation at prominent New York City law firms before forming his own firm where he specializes in general law, trusts and estates, and elder law issues with particular emphasis on long term care and Surrogate’s Court practice. He is a graduate of Hobart College where he earned his BA and received his JD from Rutgers Law School. He is a member of the NY, CT, and Federal Bars.


Aidan Lancaster

Aidan Lancaster worked as an analyst in the financial systems team for Massachusetts Financial Services, a $400 billion investment management firm. He has also been part of the client relations team at Schlesinger Associates, a leading data collection company.

Aidan is currently earning his B.S. in Finance from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.
